German filmmaker Wim Wenders has been honoured by the Berlin Film Festival for his lifetime’s work in the movie industry.

Ten of his classic films have been digitally restored and were shown during the 10 day event which ended on Thursday.

The 69-year-old’s latest drama ‘Every Thing Will Be Fine’ also got a showing.

The Oscar nominee is hoping to be recognised by the Academy again this year for his recent documentary ‘The Salt of the Earth’.

Wenders told euronews: “Awesome! A little golden bear, well the bear is my favorite animal, that’s why I am so happy.”

His film career spans almost half a century and his work includes fiction, documentary and music videos.

Brasilian film director Walter Salles paid tribute to Wenders’ talent:

“Better than anyone he offered us a moral compass, an aesthetic compass to understand where we were, who we were and where could we eventually go to so? We have to be here to thank him for cinema and I think that this prize could not be in bett
