Following on Mercedes' legendary 300 SL and the 190 SL was the now famous 280 SL. It swiftly acquired the nickname 'Pagoda' due to its concave hardtop. The 280 SL was no domesticated race car, but more a sporty, two-seat luxury model for regular roads.
