This week we're taking full advantage of the summer weather by spending it behind the wheel of an open top Ferrari. Yes, it's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2008, the modern California brought with it a number of firsts for Ferrari. As a completely new car in the Ferrari lineup, it was the first Ferrari with a front engined V-8, a direct injection system, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, a retractable hardtop roof, and a multi-link rear suspension. With these innovations, Ferrari was able to offer a car that was very adept as a grand tourer, but also equally capable of delivering blistering performance when called upon to do so.
Under the hood of this 2+2 hard top convertible is a 4.3-liter direct injected V8, outputting 460 horsepower and 358 lb-ft of torque. Flat out, the California can go from 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 193 mph.
This particular example comes well equipped with Daytona seats, Alcantara interior carpet, and a healthy dose of carbon fiber accents both inside and out.
