The December 2014 historic announcements by US President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro of the reestablishment and normalization of relations between the two countries came as a major and pleasant surprise in almost all quarters. Yet there are pending issues, such as the blockade, the State Department blacklist of countries that supposedly support terrorism, and immigration.
