The Syrian town of Kobane is now in the hands of Kurdish forces, who finally drove out fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) earlier this week.
It was an important and symbolic victory for the Kurds, but there are great challenges ahead for Kobane's residents, who remain surrounded by ISIL.
