The United Nations says the number of people killed in the conflict in eastern Ukraine is now more than 5,000.

Intense fighting between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russia separatists has seen the conflict enter its most violent stage.

The separatists are gaining more territory and their leader says he will not take part in ceasefire talks.
