You probably wouldn’t think a pair of UGG boots would help much in a dire situation. However, one woman, Alyssa Padgett Gambino’s foot may have been saved thanks to the fuzzy, warm footwear.

On Wednesday, a vehicle crashed into a Macy’s store in Newark, California. At least 6 people were injured in the wreck and a number of them were shoppers.

Gambino is one of the victims who had been inside the store and the car reportedly ran over her body. First responders were dealing with the situation when a police officer noticed her foot and pointed out what was wrong.

When she looked down, she spotted her ripped UGGs and blood leaking out. According to her mom, doctors believe those boots were far better than sandals or tennis shoes in this case.
