EU foreign ministers hold Brussels talks over terrorism threat

European foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels today to discuss security boosting measures.

Sharing information and coordinating the work of intelligence services are likely to be top of the agenda in the wake of perceived failures over the deadly attacks in Paris .

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, said: “It is not an issue between Europe, or the West, and Islam. Terrorism and terrorist attacks are targeting mostly Muslims in the world. So we need an alliance, we need a dialogue to face the issue together and we also need to take full responsibility for what we do and what we say and I think that respect is also one of the main core values of the European Union”.

The EU is keen to underline its determination to act before the heads of state meet next month to discuss terrorism and so-called radicalised European foreign fighters who’ve been active in Syria or Iraq with Islamist militant groups.

The foreign ministers will also discuss relations with Russia
