In a parliamentary session dedicated to last week’s violence, members of the French Parliament stood in silence for one minute on Tuesday (January 13) and French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said “high risks” remained. Valls’ speech was interrupted several time by applauds and standing ovations. At the end, lawmakers broke into a spontaneous rendition of La Marseillaise, French national anthem, a first in parliament’s history.
