A summit meeting that could only happen once a year.

At the border between Finland and Russia, the Finnish Santa Claus meets Russia's Father Frost to exchange greetings...and presents.

The tradition started in 2002, and this year it continues, despite the current tensions between Russia and the West.

(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN FATHER FROST, SAYING:

"There're no such things as geographical borders for doing good. I am very happy to once again see my friend and my colleague from Finland. Today we met folk and gave them a celebration, both Russian and Finnish folk. And I like that very much."

They exchanged presents and enjoyed a bit of entertainment...and of course, capping the day off with a sleigh ride.
