Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his wife, Margie Abbott visited a flower memorial near the Lindt cafe in Sydney where three people were killed and four wounded in a hostage siege that shook the nation.
After laying two bouquets of flowers, Abbott and his wife moved to a table where members of the public have been invited to sign books of condolences for the victims and their families.
Heavily armed Australian police stormed a Sydney cafe early on Tuesday morning and freed terrified hostages held there at gunpoint, in a dramatic end to a 16-hour siege in which two captives and the attacker were killed.
