A study shows that the way a person walks can impact their overall mood. By walking with a bouncy gait, a person is more likely to feel happy.

If you're having a bad day, a simple solution to changing your mood could be adding a bit of bounce to your step.

A study published in the 'Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry,' found that the way a person walks can affect their emotional state.

For the study, participants were asked to walk on a treadmill in a certain manner, and while walking shown positive and negative words.

Afterwards, they wrote down which words they remembered. Those who walked slumped over remembered more negative words, while those who adopted an upright and upbeat posture were able to recall more positive words.

The researchers believe the way each participant walked affected how they were feeling, and, in turn, which words they were able to remember.

One of the study's co-authors said, "It is not surprising that our mood, the way we feel, affects how we walk, but we want to see whether the way we move also affects how we feel."

The study shows that not only is our mood affected by how we walk, but it's possible to change how we feel by changing our gait.
