The United Nations refugee agency says 28 countries have agreed to take in more than 100,000 refugees from Syria.
The pledge announced at a meeting in Geneva comes days after Amnesty International said some affluent nations have taken in a "pitiful" number of refugees.
More than 3 million Syrians have fled fighting in the last three years.
