A curious Jack Russell Terrier prompted a rescue operation after her head got stuck in a steel pipe. The pooch’s owners, Melissa Tabor and her boyfriend had been riding horses near their home in Idaho when the canine named Baby Dog wandered off.

Melissa searched the property but couldn’t find the dog and given the cold, wet weather she became concerned. The following morning, a neighbor witnessed the canine with her head buried in the metal pipe.

Her owners attempted to free her, but were unsuccessful. They were able to loosen a portion of the pipe and brought it along with the dog to their shop.

For hours, they tried to separate the canine’s head from the pipe but swelling and stress were a problem. The couple decided to take the dog to WestVet Emergency and staffers there contacted Boise Fire Department for assistance.

Veterinarians sedated Baby Dog and firefighters used power tools to cut through the metal. The rescue operation took less than an hour and once the metal was loosened, officials were able to slide her head right out.

Baby Dog stayed overnight at the veterinary facility to receive fluids before being reunited with her family.
