Violent protests at La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy Sunday.

They've become a tradition -- happening each year on the venue's opening night.

But this year's round comes hot on the heels of a November strike by public workers and students over labor reforms.

The protests started early in the day, but stretched on into the night.

Meanwhile, opera goers inside paid almost 2500 dollars to watch a production of Beethoven's "Fidelio."

Protesters voiced their discontent with the policies of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi...who has tried to make it easier for large companies to fire workers...enraging labor unions and their supporters.
