Like Godzilla rising from the sea, another Japanese cultural icon is looming over California. Soon, very soon, Hello Kitty Cafes will be open in Southern California!
Hello Kitty Cafés are pretty much what you’d expect, given the name: restaurants that are aggressively themed with the (mysteriously) popular cartoon character. From the décor to the shape of the food, everything is all Hello Kitty, all the time.
The move was announced at Hello Kitty Con 2014 (which is also apparently a thing), and the excitement level among Hello Kitty fans is palpable**
**Note: Noah is not a “Hello Kitty Fan.”
While this food venture is somewhat more sense-making than Sanrio’s previous forays into Hello Kitty themed beer, we’re not giving this the Food Feeder Stamp of Approval***
