According to a recent survey by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, more and more people are going under the knife because of how they look in selfies.
People post their selfies on social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for all to see, just like the images of celebrities.
Some people don’t feel comfortable with their social media appearance, so they are choosing to undergo plastic surgery to improve their looks.
Doctor Sam Rizk, a Manhattan plastic surgeon, is quoted as saying: “There has been a 25 per cent increase over the past year-and-a-half to two years. That is very significant. They come in with their iPhones and show me pictures. Selfies are just getting to be so crazy.”
The demand for cosmetic operations like nose jobs, hair transplants, and eye lid lifts has increased along with the rising popularity of people taking selfies.
For those unable or unwilling to go under the knife, picture editing and filter apps can help touch up images. Others have hired makeup professionals to enhance their features instead of having plastic surgery. How far would you go to look better online?
