At least two people have died in protests that erupted after an Egyptian court dismissed murder charges against former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak for the deaths of protesters in 2011 during demonstrators that led to his ouster. He had been sentenced to life in prison in 2012 for conspiracy to commit murder, but was acquitted on appeal. Corruption charges were similarly dismissed.Seven of Mubarak's close collaborators were also acquitted. The release of the former Egyptian strongman and a series of laws tightening restrictions on freedon of expression have led many to believe that the gains of the 2011 uprising have been lost. teleSUR
