Following his release Sunday by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC,) General Ruben Dario Alzate has announced his resignation. Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has asked for an explanation as to why the general was deep in rebel territory, in civilian clothing without guards. The general said that he was in the region area doing community service, but he has yet to elaborate. teleSUR
