The cremated remains of Dr. Martin Salia are carried into this Maryland church where friends and family remember him as a hero.
He had lived with his wife and two sons in Maryland.
The surgeon from Sierra Leone and permanent U.S. resident, died from Ebola in a Nebraska hospital earlier this month after contracting the virus in his homeland.
In August the 44-year-old doctor returned to Sierra Leone to help treat Ebola patients.
By the time he returned to the United States on a specially chartered plane for treatment, he was critically ill. He died not long after.
