The streets of Caracas are now the image of calm. It is difficult to believe that less than one year ago, a nationwide explosion of the so-called 'barricades' filled the streets. The opposition-placed road blocks cost the lives of 44 people after opposition politicians Leopoldo Lopez and Maria Corina Machado called on far-right wing supporters to take to the streets, causing widespread violence.
