The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have accused the government of failing to call off the major military deployment carried out in the Choco area where General Alzate and other detainees are being held. This demonstrates a clear violation of agreed upon protocols to free the FARC's detainees. It seems the two side have reached an impasse. The FARC has repeatedly requested a bilateral ceasefire since 2012, which the Colombian government has refused. At the rate things are going, it may be a while before General Alzate is released, and thus peace talks could remain stalled for some time. teleSUR
