UK facing biggest threat since 9/11: May

British Home Secretary Theresa May says the UK is in danger. The terrorist threat she says, has never been higher than now.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRITISH HOME SECRETARY, THERESA MAY, SAYING:

"When the security and intelligence agencies tell us that the threat we face is now more dangerous than at any time before or since 9/11, we should take notice."

May says she believes more than 500 British nationals have travelled to Syria and Iraq -- many of them to fight alongside Islamist militants.

In addition to tightening border controls, May says the government will introduce a new counter-terrorism and security bill on Wednesday.
