Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos tweeted on Saturday that operations to release General Ruben Dario Alzate and four other detainees of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are underway but have been complicated by severe weather conditions in Choco where the release is to take place. A 36 hour cease-fire has been agreed upon between the two sides.The Red Cross of Colombia is in position and on alert to help facilitate the prisoner transfer, but due to climactic conditions and the inhospitable nature of the territory, assigning a timeline is a practical impossibility.
