Western New York is battling the worst snow storm most have ever seen.
It's being blamed in the deaths of more than ten people.
Buffalo resident Gary Lehsten says he spent four days trapped inside his home.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) BUFFALO RESIDENT GARY LEHSTEN SAYING:
"There's supposed to be a number to call to get shoveled out, but I couldn't get through to anyone. Thank god the guard is here. They helped me out."
The National Guard says Lehsten was lucky.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) NATIONAL GUARD STAFF SERGEANT, RAPHAEL RAMOS, SAYING:
"One of my soldiers came and got me and asked if I could help get him out. so I grabbed a skid steer and cleared a path to the doorway."
Some areas of New York state accumulated around two feet of fresh snow overnight-- that's on top of the five feet that fell earlier in the week.
The National Weather Service says some parts could expect three more feet of snow -- before the skies clear ahead of the weekend
