Sustainability Managers Get More Authority, Bigger Budgets - The Minute

Sustainability managers at major companies are getting more authority, more responsibility, and bigger budgets to support their positions. That’s the finding of a recent survey by Verdantix, a sustainability research and analysis firm. Their polling tracked 260 sustainability managers at companies with revenues ranging from $250 million to $20 billion. Respondents were selected from 21 industries, from business and financial services to manufacturing and retail. More than 90 percent of those respondents reported directly to the company CEO or another member of the executive committee. The number of CEOs who believe that sustainability issues impact their bottom line has grown by one-third, to 28 percent.
