A report by a team of independent investigators say charred remains found in Mexico are not those of a group of missing student teachers.

Last week the Mexican president and attorney general said burnt remnants found in a garbage bin in southern Mexico belonged to 43 student teachers who'd been missing since September.

But the parents of the students commissioned their own investigators... an independent team from Argentina. And Tuesday the Argentine team released a report saying that 24 of the 30 remains recovered don't have any biological kinship with the students.

A lawyer for the family said the report sheds new light on the investigation.
