The battle in Syria rages on.

Amateur video purports to show fighters affiliated with the Free Syrian Army firing rockets at the pro-government militia group Shabiha in Hama.

In Deraa, these rebels say they are making gains -- announcing the liberation of a militia base run by Shabiha.

Video obtained by social media shows rebels entering a compound and capturing the base.

And in the main battleground of Aleppo, insurgents fire on another pro-government militia.

It's here that a U.N. proposal for a local truce may come into play.

The UN peace envoy to Syria says that Syrian officials have given him positive signals regarding a truce, with President Bashar al-Assad quoted as saying the proposal was worth studying.
