A man in Philadelphia is being accused of driving a shared Corvette into a river. According to police, the husband was upset with his estranged wife when he allegedly dumped the vehicle under a local bridge.
He got out as the empty car moved into the river, and then he fled the scene. The witnesses watched the auto sink below the water’s surface. Officers weren’t immediately able to locate the suspect.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan remarked “The male that we are currently seeking did make a threat to his current or soon to be ex-wife that he was going to destroy the car and he did call and confirm he had done so.”
First responders along with officials from the Police Marine Unit arrived on scene. After a half hour or so, divers located the car in 30 feet of ice cold water.
It took another three hours to pull the 1990 Corvette out of the river. Reportedly, the husband’s name is John Kramer and according to his neighbors, the car dumping stunt isn’t surprising to them.
He and his estranged wife have joint custody of the vehicle. In the past, Kramer has allegedly violated a number of retraining orders filed against him by his spouse.
