indira babbellapati - From the biography of an unknown woman: XLIII

The enlarged uterine walls
Shrank in confusion
The bruised walls
Stared mutely
While scalpel and needles
Did a perfect job

Suspended on the
Thin line between
Life and no life
A full grown fetus
Just missed its beat and
Pulled as a lump of waste flesh

Amidst the silent commotion
There she’s on an etherized table
Forced into a comatose stupor
In an indescribable world
That’s not really hers
That she can never recall

Tissues peeled
The frozen
Vital organs exposed
The invisible hordes
Of virus that feasted on
And multiplied…

The walls remained mute
Life diverged on its path
The galaxies remained the same
The bodies too…
