How ugly our ears must seem to a cat!
How bald. How wrinkly. How pink. How flat.

For theirs are tapered, a furry thatch
That's lined with mother of pearl to catch
The dove's flight, fluffy as eiderdown...
Cat's ears are caverns where starlings drown.
