COMIC EPIPHANY
(for Scarlett)
I found Superman
living in Cork
stashed away
in my Uncle Paddy's garage
the new guy
pumping the pumps
had them flown in
by his Uncle Owen
their very existence
a miracle
in themselves
buried treasure
trove
this stolen read
in the dark
gripped in the only
shaft of sunlight
daring to enter
the depths
dust motes dancing
as if the atoms of the world
had come
un- loosed.
Comics...good as gold
to the child's mind
like Lord Carnarvon
& Howard Carter
unearthing Tutankamun.
