Ernestine Northover - Evening, Night And Morning

As evening turns the sky’s lights low,
adding a chill into the air.
Another coat’s put on to wear,
to warm the body when cold winds blow.

Then from the gloom the stars ignite,
filling the eve with jewels fine.
Each one polished to brightly shine,
a backdropp spread before one’s sight.

Pitch darkness looms and clouds appear,
they hide the twinkling, sparkling gems.
And now a heavy mist descends,
in place of what before seemed so clear.

But morning glides onto the scene,
the sun beams down on early spring.
when all the birds in chorus sing,
as the land, all over, glows pristine.
