swifter than lightning, a mere sweetness need require
in Nerine sleep, a chariot drawn by Chardin's Desire
so deep as her gloss and newness shall last
why muse on Onyx that mellow had the past?
throw off thy Tracelium with glad disdain
and leave thy dishonest and worries behind
still round the romantic scene weaves her spells
for in this barren waste a dear Heart dwells
feel how City of Ayutthaya whose frenzied gaze
has asked in vain the Love's benignant rays
since this sacred scene an Eden empowered
at Fate's command the hurricane slumbered
go then ye warm-gleaming joys of a day!
calm will she bend me to Time's sparkle way
hark! she hear the wheels rolling
Adieu! ye peace once gently praising
