A smiling child on a clattering tram
looking out at the traffic lights
She wore a big daft hat at an angle
and her nose against the glass
A smiling boy on his way to school
his hands shape and chop the air
His eyes are fixed upon a vision
as he carves his future there
A smiling baby on its mother’s back
delighted with the whole wide world
plans to take the whole thing over
then slips back inside the pack
A sun-dappled tree in the city park
reflected in the city park’s lake
Twice-dappled leaves an impression
an impression I can take
The things I saw were wonderful
you know they stopped me in my tracks
The things I saw were stupendous
I look forward to going back
