I try to wait
and wait I would
if I could say
what I should

my tongue twisted
my words nonsense
my mind empty
my lips tense

your eyes sparkle
your ears inviting
your face familiar
your fire worth lighting

what you know
and what is true
are so different
who could blame you

for ignoring all
I set out to show
for not knowing all
I want you to know

I can't tell you
I don't know why
I shouldn't say this
but I won't lie

I would wait
if I only I saw
what future we'd have
without blur or flaw

As it remains
Silence I'll keep
as you are now
preventing sleep

So I will write
what you inspire
and you'll never read
my heart's true desire
