PEARLS BEFORE SWINE
I
Thingummyjik? Gobbledygook!
Going berserk? .....Running amok!
To infatuating politicians, gullible, stargazing folk,
Lend their ears, and snore.
II
Yackety yacketing their brogue,
With their charming rigmarole;
With their Latin technospeak;
Cockney, pidgin, Johnsonese;
Flim-flam, blather, balderdash;
Lingo, cant, rhubarb rhubarb,
No plain Anglo-Saxonese, no common sense,
But all desultory rant.
Twice told tales, and wordiness,
Always beating ' bout the bush,
Spreading ' round their silly brag.
III
And here we stand with empty hands,
In whims enraptured, in dreams entranced
Forgetting miracles from heaven, will never rise,
Ignoring previous booby traps, and wisdom words that say:
Beware Ye folks; cast not your pearls before swine.
