“A woman needs a man, ”
my friend from Mexico told me.
“That’s why God made two kinds:
a man and a woman,
to help each other.
There are things a woman can do for a man,
and things a man can do for her.”
“What if you want to move your furniture,
but the bookcase is to heavy? ”
“I’ll hire someone, ” I said.
“And what if you are sick,
and no one to take you to the doctor? ”
“I’ll call a cab, ” I said.
“What about when your kids move out,
and you are all alone, with no one to love you? ”
“I’ll be free, ” I said.
“A woman like you should remary while you are still young.
When you are 70 or 80,
you will need someone to take care of you.”
“If I were 70 or 80, he’d be 80 or 90,
and I’d have to take care of him.
That’s all I’d need at that age! ”
“Don’t you believe in God? ”
he asked me.
“That he hears and answers your prayers? ”
“God has answered mine, ” I said.
“That’s why I’m still single! ”
