Nuggets center Darrell Arthur was ejected from a Friday night game against the Cavaliers in Denver after he shoved Dion Waiters out of the air on a fast break.
With just a few seconds remaining in the first quarter and Cleveland leading 34-20, Waiters pushed the ball hard up the court in transition. Waiters elevated as he approached the paint and Arthur, who was too late to step in to attempt to draw a charge, decided to use both hands to shove Waiters' waist while he was in midair. The shove sent Waiters flying back down to the hardwood on the baseline, where he landed with a thud. Thankfully, Waiters was able to get up, walk it off and continue playing.
Arthur received a flagrant foul 2 upon a video review of the foul, a designation that applies to contact that is deemed both "unnecessary and excessive" and which mandates an automatic ejection.
