Herbert Nehrlich - Barefoot And In The Kitchen

Oh, for the single life we grieve
when others nuptial blessings weave.
The best about the 'I thee wed'
is when the fresh-baked spouse is led
into the kitchen as the wife,
who'll spend the greater part of life
among the pots and pans and spoons
just dreaming of new honeymoons.
Though she will learn that being hitched
is for the girls quasi-bewitched
and when she looks at her two feet
with all the toes so pink and neat
she knows she's made from Adam's rib
Pure folly, all that Woman's Lib.
