I was always only
the back end of a horse.

the pantomime that was

...'us.'

'It's behind you! '
the audience screamed.

Our future!
And so...it was.

The smell of the crowd...
the roar of the grease paint.

Only sweet papers
littering the floor

waiting in the silence
to be

...swept up.
