Harmony of millennia
Before the advent
Of the nation state
Display of hatred
In utmost form
With foaming anger
High caps and turbans
People waving on sides
Both of the divide
Relations in blood
And water
The lovers
When thunder struck
Amputated
The beloveds
In cold blood
For gold rings
The neighbors
Turned highway men
Raped all women
In the dark
I need an apology
From the rest of humanity
From history
From providence
For we
“We who were slain in the dark”
