Dan Walters - Realizing You're Homesick...Hypocrite

In the city
The skyscrapers stick out like ugly monuments
Or the rugged ground’s smooth middle finger
Saying “Aahaha, fooled all you! ”
Then the abandon buildings and houses say
“You’re all talk, you couldn’t cut it sitting on my foundations”

In the town
The water tower says,
“Yeah, I’m pretty much useless”
And down by the river
The little shops made from wood say
Nothing because they’re all dying of old age

Out in the country
All the s****y general stores say
“I’m happy right where I am”
But the few beautiful houses say
“I feel like I’ve been cheated”

And all the people in the city just say
“This city is dying, I need to get out”
And all the people in the town say
“This town is dead, I got to get out”
And all the country boys say
“This place has always been dead,
But I’m happy right where I am”
