I am only an innocent maiden
and my teardrops multiply...
I know that when tomorrow comes
across the world you must fly.
You say you love me dearly,
I accept it ~ with a frown,
because your eyes forever wander
to the 'prettiest satin gown'.
I've no gold upon my fingers
I doubt that you even care!
and the thought is always lingering
your eyes are straying elsewhere.
With promises forsaken,
and springtime blossom gone,
my young heart is aching, breaking
but still I string along.
I am only an innocent maiden
and my teardrops multiply...
I know that when tomorrow comes
across the world you will fly.
