He hit on me
When I was younger,
And I was so flattered,
And He, so charming!

He hit on me
When I was a bit older,
And I was so thrilled,
And He, a bit bolder!

He hit on me
When I was riper,
He asked me
To marry him,
And I was ready.

He HIT me
After I became His Wife,
And my life was filled
With Trouble, Pain, and Strife.

His anger knew no bounds,
And I? I was his target,
For I knew Him too well,
And I knew His weak spots,
And His failures.

I knew why He cried in the night,
And I knew why He was suffering,
But I was His target, and between us,
There was no buffer.

So, Now, He no longer hits me,
For He did it once too often,
And when He hit me the last time,
I shot the son-of-a-gun!
