Whet e’er becomes of the essence
of the things they used to be,
some parts are laminated
in their loved ones’ memory.
For those interred, their nutrients
may smile out from the graveyard tree
And those whose ash blows o’er the land
may drift back on some summer breeze.
And whether or not their spirit
finds the light and leaves the dark
In the hearts of those they leave behind
Each one will leave their mark.
However we remember those
whose absence clouds our eye,
Just colour them with fondness
When you say that last goodbye.
