Irene C S ClarkHogg - Nature's Lesson

Is it a god who speaks my name
Through the thunder in the sky?
Are there gods who are waging war
In a great battle up on high?

Is that the sound of gunfire,
The flash of weapons that I see
As lightning, streaking across the heavens
Then hurtling down to strike a tree?

Man, in his arrogance, claims to rule
This world. Oh, he is blind.
I raise my face to torrential rain,
Am deafened by the howling wind.

How feeble is the voice of man
When Mother Nature beats her drum
To summon the elemental majesty,
Showing this puny race what can be done.
