methodical, clinical, quirky, almost a sharp shooter
only this time intruding, sedating, to my deep sleep
inducing, watching, calculating.

observing, systemic tyranical sentry by my side
my only bearer of mercy, sterile cap and gown
charting, balancing infusions of my dreamless slumber.

scoping, evaluating, scaling
my life's gradient in a stranger's hands
shielding my pain from the surgeon's pressured hand.

oh anaesthetist, where are you in my short dreamless world?
