[from a Kate E. Austin-Avon multi-medium painting 'Self Portrait']

I tear out this sheet of knowledge
Discarding it
Apparently, no one has
Any aspirations
To read these experiences
Besides, I have more to vocalize
Than one sheet
Words keep running off the sheet
I begin to express myself loudly
On account, my words
Becomes meaningless
No one examines deep enough no more
My self-portrait vanishes
From the stereotypes hurled at you
Keep supplying hints
Loudly, I present my true self
Communicating various ways
Explaining constantly
To be not invisible
Yet you believe in these stereotypes
not in me
I do believe in myself
You apparently don't
not even in yourself
It seems I can't escape
These stereotypes
I've tried every opening
It continues to be
Overshadowed by
Stereo-typical lies
