The fall air lightened by lower humidity and a genuinely stiff breeze
Actually provided me with some comfortable moments for a change
The summer sun had been extremely hot and perhaps has contributed
To my overall mood being a tad more depressed than need be
Reflecting back over the uneventful dog days of July and August
I realize how much energy I wasted and expended just trying to remain cool
On this the final day of my last September
As the distant sun now speeds across the deep blue and practically perfect sky
Leaving only an array of multi colored ice particles streaked into the fabric
Of the sparse thin clouds and flattened ozone
Summer’s signature or its signing off of sorts on the high cost of air-conditioning
And the obliviously impatient attitude it has developed for spending too much time
In one place for long periods of time
Not unlike me who now has become so short I am able to predict accurately
Right down to the second
That moment when I too will depart this hemisphere for the next….
